Colour & Patterns

My paintings are created by mixing acrylic paints and floetrol to make the paint fluid enough to move around the canvas. I then layer various colours in a container and pour it onto the canvas.Although I do create on smaller canvases, I am drawn to larger canvases where I can create long slashes of colour and patterns.

Different Weights

I love the initial feeling of being visually overwhelmed by all the swirls and motion on the canvas, and then the slow gathering of calm as my eye wanders the painting, picking out small details that draws my attention into the canvas. The different weights of the individual paint colours play an active part in the creation of the final painting.

Final Image

There comes a point where I must trust that my part is complete and hand over the creative process as I step away and watch the paints settle into the final image. Although I have a strong vision for each painting, I know that I do not have complete control over the final image. The colours take on a life of their own and add that bit of magic that makes every painting unique and impossible to recreate
